COP28: A new future for nuclear energy.

During the recent COP28 in Dubai, nuclear energy was a topic widely discussed by participants.

Although not all countries and organizations converged in one direction, as many as 22 countries signed the "Declaration to Triple Nuclear Power"pledging to increase global generating capacity by 2050. The signatories, including the United States, France, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, argue that nuclear power is a clean and reliable source of energy to decarbonize the economy and fight climate change. The International Energy Agency (IAEA) has reinforced this position, saying that nuclear power is a key element in achieving climate neutrality. Here are some highlighted pros about nuclear energy:

  • Nuclear power is a clean energy source that produces no greenhouse gas emissions.
  • It is reliable and constant energy, available 24/7.
  • It can help diversify energy sources and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

C. M. C. SUD in recent years has turned its services significantly to the nuclear sector, collaborating in various international projects, such as the ITER project, the Hinkley Point C project (under construction in England), or on components of the Surry Power Station (USA, Virginia).

This, combined with the recent statements that emerged at COP28, put us in an optimal situation to continue our efforts as a leader in nondestructive testing in the nuclear sector, both fusion and fission.
